The ignition system of our classic Volkswagen can cause many problems. After years of use the distributor wears out and shows an increasing gap. You can replace the current complete distributor with a much better alternative: the 123 ignition for standard and high-performance engines.

The 123 ignition is supplied in a housing that looks like the original, but inside you will find no mechanical parts. The outdated mechanics have been replaced by a computer-controlled high-tech system, resulting in an optimal ignition system with maximum performance and practically maintenance-free.

All mechanical parts, such as centrifugal weights, springs, bearings and vacuum diaphragm, have been replaced by a single part: the central shaft with the rotor. The internal electronics ensure the correct advance and the optimal dwell angle at various engine speeds, so that you get maximum spark at every speed. The parts used to set the ignition are not subject to wear; they only have to be set once and you no longer have to worry.

A small switch, located behind the hex screw on the housing, allows you to set the correct ignition curve for your engine (16 different settings are available). Each 123 ignition is also fitted with synchronization technology, normally only used in Formula 1, where very high engine speeds are reached. The electronics constantly monitor the amount of energy supplied per cylinder. Imagine the compression of one cylinder differs from the others, then the rotation of the flywheel and camshaft becomes more uneven. The 123 ignition senses this and adjusts the ignition timing per cylinder, resulting in an engine that runs more smoothly, delivers more power and wears less. The 123 ignition mentioned here is intended for vehicles fitted with a D-Jetronic injection system and is suitable for
- Type 1 engines
- Type 3 engines
- Type 4 engines

Also take the recommended ignition coil, available in our shop, as the original ignition coil is not suitable.
