Adjustable oil-pressure shock absorbers for the front.
Per pair.
VW Beetle 1302 | 1303 - up to 7/73.
When you mention the brand name KONI, everyone knows you are dealing with a world-class shock absorber. KONI is a 100% Dutch company that makes shock absorbers exported all over the world. Not only for the production car, but also for motorsport (including Formula 1).
The KONI shock absorber is characterised by its patented damping system, which is adjustable to the needs of the user. One likes maximum ride comfort, the other wants a sportier handling. KONI makes this possible by turning the shock absorber before fitting (see the supplied instructions) to set the desired damping (pressure). KONI is not a cheap shock absorber, but it is the highest possible quality with a service life that leaves all other brands behind.
Caution! Lowered shock absorbers are not officially intended for use in conventional Volkswagen vehicles. Simply reduce the diameter of the lower mounting hole (by drilling to 12 mm) and shorten the shaft ends (after drilling) by 32 mm on both sides. KONI only produces standard shock absorbers for our Volkswagen. When searching the KONI warehouse we found a shock absorber that, with minimal modifications, perfectly meets our wish for a lowered shock absorber.
All KONI shock absorbers are supplied in pairs, including mounting hardware (if required).
The length in the compressed and extended state is shown in the illustration for each shock absorber.

Additional information about the rear axle of our Volkswagens
Each model has two different rear suspension systems, swing axles and IRS (independent) axles. If you are not sure which rear axle is fitted, check whether you have boot covers on the wheel side and on the gearbox side. In that case you are dealing with IRS axles, or with swing axles if only on the gearbox side.
Warranty
KONI gives a very long warranty period, but if the damping adjustment mechanism is damaged, this is NOT covered by the warranty. The adjustment mechanism is damaged if the shock absorber reaches its end point while driving. Before fitting the shock absorber, make sure the end point can never be reached. The working range of the shock absorber must be well within the maximum spring travel. KONI gives no form of warranty if the adjustment mechanism is damaged. According to KONI there is no other way to damage the adjustment mechanism.
