Most Volkswagen Beetles were delivered from the factory with clear glass. In earlier years the windshield was usually made of toughened glass. On the latest VW models the windshields are made of safety glass (laminated), which later became available for older models too.

To block the sun''s rays and for more privacy, you might consider replacing the entire glazing with tinted glass. For some model years you also have the choice between standard door glass and one-piece door windows. In all kits the windshield is laminated glass and the rest is toughened glass, as it originally is.
