Bumper overriders were available as a luxury option on the Volkswagen Beetle models, while on the Karmann Ghia they were fitted as standard up to 7/1971.

The overriders are meant to protect the bumper in minor collisions, but nowadays they are often fitted as an extra accessory to keep the classic look. For the Karmann Ghia only one model is available, while for the Volkswagen Beetle three models are available depending on the year and/or bumper.

Warning: chrome-plated bumper overriders always need to be maintained properly. If you neglect maintenance, rust can form. This is not the case with stainless steel overriders - you can be sure they will never rust. Thanks to the additional chrome layer applied, there is no visible difference between stainless steel and steel.
