Type 1 engines - from 8/74 onwards.

If the battery does not charge after checking the voltage regulator and the brushes, the generator (DC) or the alternator (AC) must be checked on a generator test bench at a specialist company.

If the result is negative, it often happens that a repair or overhaul is more expensive than a new replacement.

An A-quality alternator or generator has a full factory warranty; the B-quality alternator has no warranty.
