Seat Belt 2-Point Rear Seat

Our Volkswagen was already fitted with rear seat belts in America and Canada in model year 1968, while the Mexicans only introduced this in the late 1980s. The European models never had this safety feature, but from 8/1961 Volkswagen fitted all the seats (for the Volkswagen Bus from 8/1963).

On the Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Type 3 the mounting points are in the middle under the rear seat, at the lower sides and behind the side window. On the Volkswagen Bus they are on the floor panel behind the seats and at the sides. On the VW Type 181 (Thing) they are under the rear seats and on the left and right sides.

Take care of the safety of your rear passengers too by fitting a two- or three-point seat belt in the rear, which is also suitable for securing child seats.
