Rotary knob for the heating, in black.
VW Beetle - 10/52 to 7/64.
Type 14 Karmann Ghia - up to 7/64.
T2 Bus - 1952 (20-014 685) to 7/67.
VW Type 3 - up to 7/63.
On the older Beetle model years, Karmann Ghia, Type 3 and Bus, the heating is controlled by a central rotary knob. With this system the heater cable is more or less wound up, which opens the valves of the heating.
On the VW Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3 and Type 181 these are located next to the handbrake, where the right lever can open the heating (the further you open it, the more heat enters the cabin). With the left lever the foot heating for the rear can be controlled.
If you think about it carefully, Volkswagen was ahead of all other car brands with this; even today an adjustable foot heating for the rear passengers is rare. A big disadvantage of this luxury is that the air can only be used once, and opening the flaps for the rear passengers reduces the amount of air at the windshield. For faster demisting of your windshield it is therefore advisable to close these flaps and also close the front foot heating outlet.
The biggest change in the area of heating and ventilation was made on the VW Bus. For model year 1968 the complete heating and ventilation system was modernized.
For almost all models and model years the levers and knobs are available new and are supplied without mounting hardware.
