Rust problems on the frame head usually start at the underside, where the origin is often a leak at the master brake cylinder. Since brake fluid is very aggressive and thus turns into rust with holes, the panels must be thoroughly cleaned of brake fluid so that it later has no chance to cause damage.

These frame heads replace the original. They are not intended to be used as a cover.

Note: The undersides of the 1200, 1300 and 1500 Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Type 181 after 1965 are not fitted with brackets for the brake hoses. Transfer these from your old underside.
For the years up to 1965 these are fitted as standard. This does not apply to the VW Beetle 1302 and 1303.
