Seal Front Hood / Trunk Lid A-Quality

Front hood (trunk lid) seal, A-quality.

At every restoration the trunk and tailgate rubbers always need replacing. Weathering makes them porous and cracked.

The Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia and Type 3 have the trunk at the front, and the Type 3 is the only one with the luxury of an extra trunk at the rear.

On the Volkswagen Bus we do not speak of a trunk but of a load area. The rubbers mentioned here are those of the tailgate and the side lid of the pickup versions. These are not to be confused with the seals on the engine bay.

On the Volkswagen Beetle the seal is pushed into the groove. Using universal grease, the seal is pressed through the groove along its full length. If this does not work, carefully push the seal between the groove with a thick flat screwdriver. With the last series of the Volkswagen Beetle that rolled off the line in Mexico, Volkswagen finally fitted an improvement.
These seals ensure that no moisture accumulates, which is the ideal breeding ground for rust.

The seal is of very high A-quality (matches the original). Only the most common trunk seals for the VW Beetle are available in a budget-friendly version.
