Nothing can be left to chance during overhaul, and each part must be carefully inspected before it is replaced. The same applies to the valve spring retainers. Check whether the spring plates have hairline cracks and whether they are not bent. If in doubt, replace the spring plates. A loose valve can do a lot of damage. Standard Valve Spring Retainer:
These are identical to the original and are suitable for normal or reinforced valve springs.

Chrome Moly Valve Spring Retainers:
By far the most commonly used valve spring retainers. They are made of chrome molybdenum steel and are suitable for normal, single and double reinforced valve springs. They are slightly heavier than the original, but the choice of materials makes them virtually non-deformable.

Titanium valve spring retainers:
These are the valve spring retainers for the serious engine tuner. If you are not satisfied with the heavier weight of chrome moly, titanium is the way to go. Titanium is a very strong metal that can withstand any valve spring pressure in this case, and its light weight makes it excellent for any type of tuning. Suitable for standard, as well as reinforced single and double valve springs.
