The oil pressure piston is held under tension by a spring and is located behind this locking screw in the bottom of the crankcase. On engines up to July 1969, there is only one piston (diagonally below the oil pump), after which two pistons were installed, the second being on the flywheel side.
At that time, Volkswagen opted for a slotted screw, which requires a very large screwdriver. Good tools are half the battle, and of course this also applies to the disassembly of this slotted screw. Disassembly with a screwdriver that is too small can damage the screw.
If your screws are damaged, do not screw them back in, but mount new ones!
