VW Beetle / Type 1 engines - from 8/59 and later.

Starting with the 1960 model year, Volkswagen installed an oil drain plug, but it was not standard on all engines; many engines left the factory without it.

The gasket is compressed during use and must be replaced each time the oil is changed. The old gasket will leak when reused.

Note for Type 4 engines: Type 4 engines up to July 1979 used two different sizes of drain plugs interchangeably. The gasket mentioned here is for the drain plug with M14 thread, measure the thread before ordering.
