During hard cornering and when getting into the car, the passenger can use the grab handle on the dashboard. With the exception of the T25/T3 Bus, all classic Volkswagens are fitted with one from the factory. The handles for the T25/T3 Bus are on the A-pillar, and on models equipped for passenger transport in the passenger compartment.
For those who think the handle is never used, be careful. You will notice the passenger holds the handle many times without realising it.
The handle can take a lot, but after years of hanging and pulling a replacement may be needed, although most handles are replaced for cosmetic reasons.
