Air Distributor Middle

Middle heater outlet for dashboard.

From model year 1966 the windshield air distributor of the Volkswagen Beetle was greatly improved; the windshield was now blown clear with warm air not only through the sides but also through a grille in the middle, which ensured faster demisting than before.

This grille, like the side outlet, cannot be controlled separately. The air supply is regulated only with the heater control next to the handbrake.

The grille is clamped into the outlet through the dashboard. Through the outlet the hoses go left and right to the distributor towards the ventilation duct. If the outlet cracks, a large part of the airflow disappears into the housing. In such a case, replace the outlet with a new one if necessary. The outlet is fitted with moisture protection for the radio. This is a revision that was later carried out by Volkswagen.
