Mounting Kit Heater Flap Cable

The heating works on all air-cooled Volkswagens, with the cables running from the control lever to the heat exchangers. The only exception is the military version of the Volkswagen Thing, which is fitted with an auxiliary heater and therefore does not use heat exchangers (many were, however, converted to civilian versions that do use heat exchangers).

The heater cable fastening on the arm or control box is often rusted, bent or broken during removal. This kit contains all the fastening parts to secure the heater cable, intended for the original cable model, i.e. with a thickened end. If you use universal heater cables (without the thickened end), use a longer M6 bolt (not included), otherwise you have no tightening range.

Supplied as a kit for one side.

Note: The fastening cylinder used to secure the cable has an internal locking device to withstand engine vibrations. Use pliers to hold the cylinder while clamping, so the cable is not damaged by the turning.

Applicable to all Volkswagens fitted with air-cooled engines and heating.

Check that the operation runs smoothly without the cables connected and (if necessary) run everything again. If the assembly cannot be saved, replace the complete control arm or control box.
