Carburetor Weber 34 mm ICT.
Weber and EMPI are the largest carburetor suppliers today and offer a wide range of carburetors for all kinds of setups. Power only increases partly with a larger carburetor, depending on how the engine is built.
These 34 mm carburetors are perfect for getting more power out of your standard single- or dual-port engine; you do not need twin 40 or 44 mm at all. If you have gone a bit further with larger cylinders and pistons, a modified camshaft, larger cylinder heads and so on, you will have to ask yourself whether it would not be better to fit a 40 or 44 mm twin carburetor setup. If you have chosen the 34 mm carburetor mentioned here, the question is which brand to choose, Weber or EMPI, and what the difference is.
We can be very brief: there is virtually no difference between the two brands. Weber needs no further explanation, having proven itself over the years; EMPI has been on the market for years but cannot hide 50 years of experience behind its name. The only advantage of an EMPI EPC 34 is that it focuses 100% on the air-cooled Volkswagen, with the right emulsion tube and a selection of jets that suits most air-cooled engines. Weber is not Volkswagen-specific, and this is reflected in the choice of factory-fitted parts, which suit Ford better than Volkswagen - you may have to adjust this. The overview below lists the jets of both carburetors. This carburetor is supplied in parts.
