To transmit as few vibrations as possible via the steering wheel, the connection between the steering column and the steering box is fitted with a rubber coupling.

In the last model years of the Volkswagen Beetle the connection is riveted; the rivets are sawn off and replaced by M8 x 32 mm bolts with lock nuts.

If you want to replace all connections, three parts are needed on the Volkswagen T25/T3; on all other models only one coupling.

Note: Check the coupling at every service for fine cracks and replace it immediately if it shows fine cracks. If the connection breaks, your car is left without steering.
