On the Volkswagen Beetle and VW Bus up to 7/1967, the headlight bowl is fastened with 7 retaining springs per unit. These springs are tensioned on the edge of the inner part that overlaps the rim of the bowl.

For correct fitting it is necessary that no springs are missing and that all springs are still sufficiently tensioned. If this is not the case, the bowl comes loose from the headlight and the light projection cannot be adjusted properly.
