Seals for headlight glass.
Per pair.
VW Beetle - up to 7/67.
T1 Bus - up to 7/67.
Up until 1973, the headlights did not consist of a complete headlight unit, but were assembled from individual parts. The individual components of the headlights included the headlight glass, reflector, gaskets, etc. This was later improved by using hermetically sealed headlight units, so that moisture had less chance.
When the rubber seal between the headlight and If glass has become cracked due to drying out, moisture can easily penetrate your headlight. This leads to an impairment of the light image. In addition, the reflector will rust over time.
Our tip: Check your headlights regularly for moisture and replace the seal in good time.
< br /> Installation for vehicles up to and including July 1967 (headlight seal 4000610): The smooth side of the rubber should press against the headlight glass, the profiled side ensures that the rubber can rotate around the glass. Dry fit the rubber around the glass. When using a lubricant it is very difficult to pull the rubber around the glass.
Fitting for cars from August 1967 (headlight seal 4003610): The ribbed side rests against the headlamp ring and also on these years do not use any lubricant for assembly.
Headlights from before 7/1973 were not made in one piece but were fitted with float glass, reflector etc and had no bulb. For a perfect moisture seal between the glass and the reflector, there must be a rubber between the two parts.
Be careful! The smooth side of the rubber should press against the lens of the headlight, the profiled side allows the rubber to rotate around the lens.
