Over the years Volkswagen always had the option of fitting an optional sunroof. For the Volkswagen Bus and the Volkswagen Beetle it was originally a folding roof, later replaced with a steel sliding roof. For the VW Type 3 models only a steel sliding roof was available.

If the roof pulls to the side or will not move at all, the problem is often caused by the cables that operate the roof. There is not much you can do; replacing the cables is the only solution.

The cables are located on the left and right of the sliding roof and are integrated into the body. In many cases you will find a broken cable or a cable so heavily affected by corrosion that it no longer moves, but the drive mechanism can also be faulty.

The cable is a reproduction of the original, but a very high-quality reproduction equal to the original.

Caution: The left and right cables must be well aligned so the pinion allows an even movement. If this is not the case, too much force is applied to one cable, causing the gear to slip and the cable to be damaged. If the cable is damaged by incorrect installation, it cannot be returned under warranty.
