All VW models with a mechanical clutch are fitted with a clutch cable guide.

This cable guide is located partly in the chassis and partly in the bracket fastened to the gearbox.

The cable must have a certain deflection (curve), which can be adjusted by fitting spacer rings between the end of the outer cable and the gearbox bracket. You will find the correct deflection in your workshop manual.
