Ground Strap Transmission / Chassis 290x20mm

Ground strap / earth lead from chassis to transmission.

Make sure all ground points are free of oxidation and that the fastening points make good contact.

On our VW models the ground is taken directly from the battery terminal, which is fitted to the chassis via an earth cable. Between the transmission and the chassis there is also an additional ground strap that ensures proper earthing of the engine.

The transmission is mounted in rubber, with the drawback that these rubbers cause the engine and transmission to be fully or partly insulated; the additional ground strap bridges this. This strap is located on the side of the transmission (at the level of the selector lever) and is mounted on the chassis.

Check the condition of the ground strap regularly and replace it in case of oxidation or damage.
