Reversing Light Switch

Switch for the reversing light.
From 8/66 onwards.
Not suitable for automatic transmission.

From 1967 Volkswagen fitted the reversing light switch on the gearbox, initially only available on the more luxurious versions and later fitted as standard on all versions.

On cars before 1967 you could also opt for reversing lights as an extra option. A switch was then used that was fitted between the speedometer cable, a well-thought-out but fault-prone system.

If your car is not factory-fitted with reversing lights, it is often possible to screw the switch into the gearbox; the location is fitted with a blanking plug.

On the third generation of VW Buses two different switches are used, the first with a so-called K-Jetronic connector, the second a switch with two 6.3 mm blade connectors. First check which switch is fitted before ordering.
