An overflowing carburetor is often due to a float needle that no longer closes. This float needle is used in almost all carburetors used by VW.

The exception is the 26 VFI carburetor model, on which the float is not hinged and which uses only a 1.2 mm float needle. This carburetor is found on 25 hp engines up to 9/1952.

Note: 26 PFD carburetors with a hinged float also use this 1.5 mm needle.
