If the valve stem is pushed in from the top, this can be due to age, but often also to the poor hardness of the valve or the adjusting screw. These parts must have the same hardness, which is of course originally the case, but if one of these parts has been replaced by a different quality, this can cause problems that lead to broken valve stem caps. To be safe, valve stem caps should be installed that protect the valve stem. You may have to replace the adjusting screws instead of dismantling your engine to replace the valves.

The use of valve stem caps changes the geometry of the valve and must be corrected by fitting shims under the rocker shaft.

These hardened valve stem caps are suitable for valves with an 8 mm top. Valves with a 9 mm stem also have an 8 mm tip and are therefore also suitable for these caps.
