Return Spring Cooling Flaps

Return spring for cooling flaps.

T2 Bus heating and ventilation control - up to 7/79.

These retaining springs are used for more than one function. On Type 1 engines, the rod connecting the two cooling flaps is secured with them. Note: not all engines use springs - some use retaining clips. These springs are also used to secure the heating and ventilation rods in the dashboard and, finally, the throttle mechanism.

They are supplied in sets of 4. The overview below shows the quantity you need per application and model year.

Retaining clips for cooling flaps (article 3867):
The cooling flap rods not listed in the overview above are secured with retaining clips. With the introduction of the 1300 and 1600 cc dual-port engines in 1970, Volkswagen dropped the locking springs and secured the rod with clips. Afterwards the springs turned out to work better, and in 1975 they switched back to the familiar springs. The retaining clips are also available for the engines that are not fitted with springs.
