Return Spring Cooling Flaps

Return spring for cooling flaps.
Type 1 / VW Beetle engines - from 8/64 onwards.

The left and right cooling flaps in the fan housing are connected with a central rod. With the help of the thermostat both cooling flaps are operated at the same time. When the engine cools down, the thermostat closes, causing the cooling flaps to close. To make this process run smoothly, there is a spring on the central rod that controls both cooling flaps. This spring is rusted in many cases, so the spring force is lost. With a rusted spring there is only one good solution, and that is replacement.

Applies only to Type 1 engines from 8/1964 onwards.

If, in addition to the return spring, you also have to replace the clips that fasten the central rod to the cooling flaps, or if the thermostat has to be replaced, then look at the corresponding items below.
