Oil Filler Neck

Oil filler neck, standard.
Type 1 / VW Beetle engine 1200cc - from 8/75.
Type 1 / VW Beetle engine 1300 | 1600cc - from 8/72.

Removing the oil filler neck can only be done with the correct tool. If you try this without the correct tool, it may be the reason you are now looking for a new oil filler neck. There are two versions: the model for the older engines with a crankcase breather tube that comes out through the sheet metal under the engine, and the model used later, where this tube was no longer needed.

Attention: all oil filler necks mentioned below are only suitable for Type 1 engines!

1848 Chrome oil filler with drain tube:
The model with drain tube is identical to the original for the engines mentioned below. If your engine is not listed here but you have a drain tube, you can use it without problems; only the shape of the drain tube differs from the original model (which has no further consequences). Since visibility matters, this oil filler is fully chrome-plated and supplied complete with a chrome cap.

1849 Chrome oil filler without tube:
This oil filler is the same as above, only the tube is no longer present. This neck is often used as a replacement for the model with tube for a so-called "clean look". Volkswagen itself also later removed the tube. It fits almost all engines, taking the above into account; note that the crankcase breather connection is narrower than the original. If you fit a sport air filter (13 mm hose connection) it fits perfectly; with the original plastic filter housing (thicker hose) you have to make a reducer.

3849 Black oil filler without tube:
This black oil filler is the perfect reproduction of the original, with the correct connection diameter for the crankcase breather intended for the original air filter. If you want to keep the engine 100% in original condition and match the following model years, this is the right choice. Supplied without cap; order this separately if needed.
