Radial shaft seals ensure that the lubricant for the wheel bearings stays enclosed in the hub. They also ensure that dust and dirt cannot get in.

On models fitted with a rear swing axle*, the bearing is lubricated by gearbox oil, so on these models there is only a seal on one side. This seal plays a very important role. A leaking seal leads to a leak that affects your brake system.

On models with independent rear suspension* (IRS) there is a seal on the outside and one on the inside of the bearing, so two seals per side are required.

If you order a set of rear wheel bearings, these seals are included. As with the complete rear axle joint sets for the swing axle system*.

Caution! Press the seal in evenly. If it is pressed in at an angle, the seal can be damaged and lose its sealing function.

* Swing axles can be recognised by a sleeve fitted on the gearbox side, and in the case of independent rear suspension (IRS) there are separate axles with drive sleeves on both sides.
