When the intention is to get more power out of your engine, people often immediately consider increasing engine power together with larger carburetors. If you want to double the standard power, this is an important aspect, but for a gain of 20 or 30 hp you do not need to increase the displacement.

Fitting larger carburetors with a performance camshaft and a cylinder head set with larger valves can take you very far; you can build a fast engine for everyday use in a responsible way. Read the explanation that corresponds to the chosen cylinder head carefully here, so that you can make an informed choice.

Autolinea 041
This is not a ready-to-use cylinder head; it is supplied bare, which can have the advantage that you can select valves, springs, etc. for assembly. The finish of the Autolinea 041 is in any case much better than that of the standard cylinder heads (which are not offered by Paruzzi). You still have to adjust and change a few other things if it is to be perfect, such as leveling the combustion chamber, grinding the valves and finally finishing the intake and exhaust ports. It may seem strange to have to do extra work on new cylinder heads, but this is a well-known fact with Autolinea. Even after long insistence little changes; the most important target group is probably the professionals who are used to making adjustments, and Autolinea can thus keep the price low. Autolinea 041 is fitted with more material between the spark plug hole and the valves to avoid known cracks between the valve and the spark plug hole, so spark plugs with a long thread should be fitted. You have the choice between Bosch and NGK, with NGK available in various heat ranges.

EMPI GTV-2
This cylinder head is not based on Autolinea, but on a new cylinder head developed by EMPI. On the EMPI GTV-2, the space between the valve and the spark plug bore has been further reinforced and uses 12 mm spark plugs. Compared to the original, the EMPI GTV-2 is 50% stronger and has 44% more cooling surface. The intake and exhaust ports are 20% larger than the original and there is more material that can allow additional porting. They are supplied complete with stainless steel valves and double valve springs with chrome-molybdenum valve springs to prevent valve float at high speeds. However, it is necessary to fit reinforced valve stems with stainless steel valve stem caps. The caps are not included; order them separately (available separately in our shop). The EMPI GTV-2 is supplied ready to fit. However, do not take any risk and check the position of the valve before assembly. A professional always takes everything apart to check with their own eyes and measuring instruments whether the cylinder head meets their wishes, and adjusts the cylinder head if necessary. Repeat this working method; it can save you a lot of trouble later.

AMC
The cylinder heads of the Type 4 CU and CV engines, used only in the T25/T3 Bus, are fitted as standard with 39.3 mm intake valves. The 2-liter engines of the Panorama Bus never exceeded 37.5 mm, while the 1700 and 1800 models were fitted with 39.3 mm valves. For anyone working on Type 4 engines, it makes sense to use these cylinder heads instead of the original with the smaller 2 mm intake valves. This is also recommended for the original overhaul and represents an improvement over the original.
AMC cylinder heads are made in Spain and are of very high quality. AMC with EMPI is the only manufacturer where you can fit the cylinder head directly. Nevertheless, a professional will disassemble everything to check with their own eyes and measuring instruments whether the cylinder head meets their wishes. We advise you to apply this working method again; when you work on the engine you are 100% sure and leave nothing to chance.
