Gaskets for heater hose and air filter hose.
Per pair.
Type 1 / VW Beetle engine heater - from 8/70 and later.
Type 1 / VW Beetle engine air filter - from 8/70 and later.
On an air-cooled engine, the engine compartment is hermetically sealed so that cooling air can only be drawn in through the grilles provided. The intake of warm air impairs cooling performance.
The heater hoses leading through the engine plates to the heater pots are fitted with rubber seals. So is the hose that draws in warm air from the bottom of the engine to preheat the carburetor (on later Type 1 engines).
Volkswagen adapted the seals for the Type-1 engines in the early 1970s. In the years up to July 1970, the hose clamp disappeared into the rubber, and from August 1970, the hose clamp became visible. This change was made to ensure that the rubber could be pressed flush against the sheet metal, resulting in a better seal.
On Type 1 engines, you need two pieces for the heater hoses and one piece for the carburetor preheater.
