Unfortunately we cannot do without anti-theft protection today, but that was already the case in the 1950s and 1960s. Volkswagen had found a solution for this problem: you could buy an extra lock for the gear shift lever, so that it could no longer be operated. From model year 1952 a start-off lock was added. Volkswagen kept this accessory in its catalog until July 1967. After the model change in August of that year, it was decided to stop offering the lock.

With the reproduction shown here we take one step back by offering a system without a start-off lock (only the gear lever is locked), but also one step forward by offering a model for the years after 1967. The lock replaces the existing housing (including the rubber of the original gear lever), and with a key lock the gear change is blocked. The only additional option you need to buy is a new rubber boot.

Supplied with two keys.
