Oil sump cover with an opening for an oil temperature sensor.
Type 1 / VW Beetle engines (except 25 and 30 hp).
VW Type 3 engines.
CT/CZ engines.
The best place to measure oil temperature is in the engine oil itself, where you get the exact oil temperature. Oil temperature is crucial for an air-cooled engine. We found temperature differences of 10 to 15 degrees Celsius between a reading at the oil sender location and the actual oil temperature measured in the crankcase cover.
This aluminum housing has extra cooling fins. The position of the drain plug is designed to hold an oil temperature sender and is protected by a special construction. This allows even lowered vehicles to measure the oil temperature in the right place without damaging the oil sensor.
Another very important aspect of this oil sump cover is that it was developed specifically for this purpose: the probe cannot block the oil inlet or damage the oil strainer, which is a risk when the probe is fitted in an original oil pan cover.
The oil sump cover is supplied without fastening nuts, gaskets and oil temperature sensor, which can be added if required (available separately in our shop), or choose a complete set.
