If the starter only clicks and will not turn, then the solenoid is broken or a few windings have burned out.

In most cases you have to replace it completely; it is best to fit a brand-new or professionally reconditioned starter instead of a used one, of which you do not know how long it will last.

On starters fitted with a starter bush (mounted in the gearbox), it is possible that a different starter motor with a different shaft diameter was fitted before. Check the outer diameter of the old starter and order the correct starter bush as an extra.

Not all starters are brand-new. If the starter has been professionally reconditioned, this is mentioned in the description. Professionally reconditioned starters are original Bosch starters and meet the same requirements as brand-new starters.

Some starters are also available in B-quality (budget-friendly but of lower quality).
