Only suitable for carburettor engines, not for fuel-injected engines.

If your fuel filter is extremely dirty, it can impair the fuel supply so that the engine gets too little fuel. You can fit a new filter again and again, but is it not smarter to replace the tank?

Rust flakes are often the cause of the problem. Cleaning the tank can help, but not for long, because the metal is damaged and will soon cause a new problem.

If you own a buggy, it is advisable to take tank 00492. This has the tank inlet on top, where the cap fits directly, and the option of fitting a fuel gauge sender.

Make sure the underside of the fuel tank is treated with a corrosion-protection primer. The tank is easily forgotten when the car receives a corrosion-protection treatment.

The tank is supplied bare; all connections you may need must be ordered separately. Some fuel tanks are supplied in black transport paint. In that case the transport paint must be removed and the tank sprayed in the desired colour.
