A rusted-through tank often makes itself known slowly: rust flakes clog the fuel filter and the engine gets too little fuel. Fitting a new filter only helps briefly, because the cause is inside the tank. Once the metal is damaged, cleaning provides no lasting fix. With this fuel tank you solve the problem at the root.

Does this tank fit my Beetle?

This tank holds 40 to 42 litres and fits:

• VW Beetle 1200, 1300 and 1500 - from 8/67
• Karmann Ghia Type 14 - from 8/67
• VW Type 181 (Thing)

For earlier years (8/60 to 7/67) we stock the matching tank in its own version, as well as for the 1302 and 1303. If in doubt, your chassis number will confirm the correct fit.

Why replace the tank instead of cleaning it

Rust flakes are often the cause of starting problems and poor fuel delivery. Cleaning removes the loose rust, but the affected metal keeps rusting and soon causes deposits again. A new tank is the more reliable solution, especially if you drive the car regularly.

Delivery and fitting

The tank is supplied bare. Order the fittings and the matching tank seal with it if needed. Treat the underside with a corrosion-protection primer before fitting - the tank is easily forgotten during underbody treatment.

Which tank fits my year? This tank is for Beetles from 8/67. For years 8/60 to 7/67 and for the 1302/1303 there are separate versions. The chassis number identifies your vehicle reliably.

Clean or replace? As long as there is only loose rust, cleaning can help short-term. If the metal is damaged, replacement is the lasting solution.
